Renamed to NDMD
The Nevis Disaster Management Office is modified to the Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) to reflect its expanded role.
Under the Premier's Ministry
NDMD falls under the purview of the Premier's Ministry in the Nevis Island Administration — responsible for preparedness, management, mitigation, coordination, control, recovery and rehabilitation.
NDMD's first Director, the late Llewellyn Newton, set the foundation for disaster management on Nevis when the Office was established in January 1991.
